Choosing A Paint Sheen | Indoor & Outdoor Winter Fun | Year of the Horse

by Jen Ward

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on February 2nd and predicted 6 more weeks of winter. His forecasts have been correct only 35-39% of the time, so we'll see if colder temps will persist.

If you love outdoor winter fun, check out the Havre de Grace Ice Festival. There will be ice sculptures, a chili cook-off, outdoor hot toddy garden, live performances, and ping pong on a table made of ice.

If you prefer indoor winter fun, visit the BMA for Amy Sherald's acclaimed exhibit (it is serene and beautiful) or pick up something fun from the American Craft Made Baltimore show. More information is in the articles below.

If you've been hunkering down at home during the recent deep freeze, you may have developed cabin fever staring at the walls and ceilings. Or you might be thinking of repainting some rooms. While you take your time choosing a paint color, take a moment to think about the best paint finish for the room. One year, I made the mistake of picking a satin finish which highlighted all the imperfections in the wall; I was back at the store the next day looking for the right finish. Check out the tips from Sherwin-Williams below.
