Hampton Gardens, Towson Community

At the eastern edge of Towson and outside of the Baltimore beltway, Hampton Gardens has the kind of reputation that attracts people looking for their own oasis of calm in Baltimore County. Wide, tree-lined streets wind through large lots where homes have space and privacy between them.
But this suburb isn’t hidden in the wilderness hours away from civilization. Hampton Gardens is only a 10-minute drive to all things Towson: gourmet grocery stores such as Fresh Market and Whole Foods, shopping at Towson Place where you can find Target and Weis grocery stores, plus restaurants from fast food chains to local favorites. Another 10 minutes west and you’ll find more retail, restaurants, and medical offices in Lutherville-Timonium. Commuting to work is a breeze on secondary streets with easy access to 695.
At the north end of Providence Road, you end up at Loch Raven Reservoir where you can find fishing, hiking, and biking trails. To the south of the community, Cromwell Valley Park borders the community and gives the neighborhood a green backdrop filled with local plants, wildlife and nature trails. Here, the outdoors is genuinely close, which can be nice if you want to hike on a Saturday morning without committing to a road trip.
Residents describe the community as tight-knit with many homeowners making Hampton Gardens a forever home. The suburban design philosophy sees homes generously spaced apart and nestled into the natural terrain and woods. You’ll find a variety of home styles including colonial, contemporary, rancher, raised rancher and even a cottage/cape cod. Hampton Gardens has a voluntary community association where residents can participate in neighborhood activities.
Children can attend Baltimore County public schools assigned to the geographic area or choose to enroll in various private schools in the area. Towson University, one of Maryland’s strongest public universities, and liberal arts school Goucher College are both within minutes of the neighborhood.
If your goal is suburban calm with genuine access to amenities, green space, and a community that actually functions as one, check out Hampton Gardens.
