Time to Toss those old iPods or Cameras

Have you been looking for a new laptop, printer, or cell phone? Or maybe you're thinking of taking advantage of the back-to-school special deals on electronics. Do you know what to do with your old electronics?
You've probably seen them -- the back-to-school sales ads showing big discounts on laptops and other electronics before the school year starts. It's hard to turn down a good deal, but what do you do with your old electronics?
Don't throw them in the trash; eCycle instead! Electronics Recycling is the best way to dispose of your old electronics. eCycling has many benefits:
- Reduce the amount of toxics entering the waste stream (lead, mercury and arsenic)
- Save landfill space
- Conserve natural resources
- Reduce the rate of electronic waste generated each year
Wondering how to get started?
First of all, you will want to wipe the hard drive to ensure people aren't looking to get your private information. Second, check out if you can return the device to the manufacturer, as in the case of Apple. Apple has an education program that will allow you to trade in an old Macbook. And sometimes you can even get a discount toward another device.
In any case, you’ll be doing something good for the planet while getting more space in your house.
And if you can’t bear to part with your old iPod or Discman, you can always start a museum of ancient technology.
