Come on, get happy...we're going to Maryland!

by Jen Ward

It's official: Maryland is the second-happiest state, according to WalletHub.

WalletHub drew upon the findings of “happiness” research to determine which environmental factors are linked to a person’s overall well-being and satisfaction with life. Maryland ranked #2 partly because:
  • It has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation (3.2%) along with the highest percentage of households earning over $75,000 per year.
  • Residents complain less on social media about work, likely due to decent work conditions and job stability.
  • Residents report liking what they do and being motivated to achieve their goals.
  • The state has the third-highest share of people who report having supportive relationships and love in their lives.
“In addition to pursuing your passions, having a good work-life balance, and maintaining an emotional support network, another key way to boost your happiness is living in the right place.”
