Waverly and Better Waverly are typically thrown around as the same neighborhood but are two different neighborhoods, separated by 33rd Street. Both neighborhoods share some of the same amenities. Better Waverly is flanked by the neighborhoods of Waverly, Abell, Harwood, Ednor Gardens and Coldstream Homestead Montebello. It’s boundaries are 33rd Street, Loch Raven Boulevard, 25th Street and Greenmount Avenue. Better Waverly has a strong community association.

The neighborhood has different types of housing from multi-units, row houses and single family homes. The area is dominated with brick row houses with porch fronts and sunrooms. The area is accessible via the MTA’s bus system with buses running around the perimeter of Better Waverly where you can find shopping, restaurants and services.
Looking for some fun? The Baltimore Museum of Art are in walking distance to the West. Lake Montebello, Baltimore City’s water reservoir and treatment plan, lies to the East and in walking distance. Lake Montebello is a great place for walking or biking. Do you enjoy working out? The YMCA on 33rd Street is on the former Memorial Stadium land. Readers and students will enjoy the Enoch Pratt Library Waverly Branch. It has been recently renovated and state of the art.
Waverly is known for their year round farmers’ market at 32nd Street where you will find fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and prepared foods. If you need other household goods, you can visit the Giant on 33rd Street to finish out your grocery list. The ACE Hardware is just around the corner from the Giant. You’ll find plenty of restaurants and shopping along Greenmount Avenue and beyond in Charles Village.
